Vice President of Medical Administration
Joseph Castellana has focused his career on strengthening hospitals, health care organizations, and medical practices through progressive and sound leadership. In his current role, he oversees the administrative functions of medical affairs, research, and education for the Partners Continuing Care system, which includes the Spaulding hospitals, its skilled nursing facilities, outpatient centers in which physicians practice, and the advance practice providers within Partners Healthcare at Home
Over the course of his career, Dr. Castellana has held senior leadership positions at several Boston academic medical centers, a community hospital, and served as the Executive Associate Dean at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Castellana earned a B.S. from Boston College, an M.B.A. from Suffolk University, and a Ph.D. in Health Policy from Brandeis University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management where he also taught Corporate Finance. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors at Fenway Community Health, where he serves on the Executive, Finance, and Quality and Compliance Committees. He also serves on the finance committee of SpeakEasy Stage Company. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and its Massachusetts Mentorship Program, which supports the development of future healthcare leaders.
