Pediatric Rehabilitation Program

Every child dreams of being able to do more.

Pediatric rehabilitation is about more than building strength and improving function. It’s about inspiring children to gain the skills and confidence to reach their full potential.  And it’s also about supporting families throughout the rehabilitation process.

Within the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, your child will be cared for by pediatric experts who know the importance of nurturing, engaging, and encouraging children to become all they can be. Whatever the challenges – developmental delay, injury, illness or disability – our rehabilitation teams will use age-appropriate strategies to meet your child’s current physical, emotional, academic and social challenges -- and lay the foundation for future progress and success.

Advanced Care to Meet the Needs of Children

Young patients come to Spaulding for a wide range of rehabilitation needs. Whether intensive inpatient rehabilitation, coordinated outpatient therapy is needed, your child will benefit from Spaulding’s holistic, child-centered approach to care.

Commonly seen diagnoses include:

Spaulding Boston has a 12-bed Pediatric Unit, where your child will stay in one of 12 private rooms and have access to a developmental playroom and a child-oriented therapy area.  One parent at a time may stay overnight for as long as needed, and we have a welcoming visitation policy for family members, siblings and peers.

Spaulding Boston’s clinical resources include an assistive technology center and an onsite adaptive sports and recreation program.  Consultation with medical specialists at many of Boston’s prestigious acute care hospitals is available as needed.

Spaulding’s outpatient centers provide therapy services for older children and adolescents.  In addition, our outpatient centers in Lexington and Sandwich are dedicated solely to treating children from birth to 15 years.
