Spaulding For Patients
Rehabilitation isn’t just about getting better. It’s about getting stronger. At the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, our physicians, nurses, therapists, and other clinicians work together to help you move forward – physically and emotionally – so you can get back to living life to the fullest. Care at Spaulding is customized for your individual needs to heal the “entire you.” That means making sure that you and your family are included in the rehabilitation process. It also means listening to your concerns and questions and doing everything we can to make your rehab successful.

- Why Spaulding?
- The Patient Experience
Rehabilitation care is comprised of four main services: inpatient rehabilitation, long-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing care and outpatient rehabilitation care. You will find all four of these levels of care within the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network.
Inpatient Rehabilitation
Spaulding offers you the full spectrum of inpatient care delivered by a team of compassionate, goal-oriented rehabilitation professionals.
Inpatient rehabilitation (also known as hospital-level rehabilitation or acute rehabilitation) is the most comprehensive level of care. To be certified as a rehabilitation hospital, a facility must meet Medicare criteria related to physician, nursing and therapy services. These include:
- On-site physicians who are able to see patients frequently, including daily if necessary
- Intensive therapy services, averaging three hours per day
- Specialized nursing and respiratory therapy capabilities
- Clinical resources such as on-site pharmacy and radiology (x-ray)
In each of our facilities and in all of our programs, on-site rehabilitative specialists work as a team to address your unique needs. This collaborative approach allows us to constantly adapt and fine-tune therapies along the way to ensure that you make the most progress and get the best results possible. Long-Term Rehabilitation
Long-term rehabilitation care may be provided in long-term acute-care (LTAC) hospitals with specialty programs such as ventilator care. Length of stay is generally measured in months.
Skilled Nursing Facility
Sub-acute rehabilitation care is generally provided in a specialty unit located within a skilled nursing facility (nursing home) or a designated unit within an acute-care hospital.
Outpatient Rehabilitation
At Spaulding, outpatient therapy is about meeting you where you are, and taking you further than you imagined.
Spaulding offers you an extensive range of therapeutic programs and services built on some of the most advanced treatment approaches and technologies in rehabilitative medicine. Now this advanced kind of care is available close to home, through our network of 23 outpatient centers, making it easier for patients and their families to integrate regular therapy into their daily lives.
