Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Cape Cod

At Spaulding Cape Cod, our clinicians have developed numerous specialty inpatient and outpatient programs to serve children and adults with specific needs. Our staff includes full-time physicians specializing in rehabilitation, neurology and internal medicine.

One of them will lead your rehabilitation team, working collaboratively with therapists, nurses and your care coordinator to set goals and review your progress. You can expect to receive three hours of therapy a day, five to seven days per week. You can also expect encouragement, understanding, and compassionate guidance at every turn.

Sherri A. Tupper, MD, FACP
Assistant Medical Director, Director of Inpatient Medical Services
In her role as Director of Inpatient Medical Services, Dr. Sherri Tupper oversees all inpatient medical services at Spaulding Cape Cod and a team of hospitalists, physicians whose practice focuses only on the care of inpatients.  Dr. Tupper is an internist with experience in critical care medicine and is a strong advocate for continuing education of hospital staff.  

Dr. Tupper received her medical degree from New York Medical College and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Westchester County Medical Center, N.Y.  She is a  Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a member of the American College of Physicians and the Society of Hospital Medicine.  Her interests include the management of diabetes, heart disease, and electrolyte abnormalities.

Prior to joining Spaulding Cape Cod, Dr. Tupper co-directed the hospitalist program at Cape Cod Hospital, directed the internal medicine residency program at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, and served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine.  She received the “Physician of the Year” award in 2005 from the National Physician Advisory Council.

Sharon Gale, PT, MHA
Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation
As the Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation at Spaulding Cape Cod, Sharon Gale provides leadership and oversight to the outpatient Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology and Audiology services and to multiple specialty programs.  Ms. Gale holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration from New England College.   

During her physical therapy career, Ms. Gale has worked in skilled nursing facilities and outpatient centers across MA.  She began her tenure at SCC over ten years ago as Site Manager for Spaulding Orleans Outpatient Center.  In her current role, Ms. Gale oversees five outpatient centers  located across Cape Cod and the South Shore.  With her team of outpatient managers and supervisors,  Ms. Gale focuses on developing diverse, high quality services that meet the needs of the Cape and South Shore communities while maintaining high patient satisfaction ratings.

Ann Comiskey
Occupational Therapy Supervisor 
Ms. Comiskey is the Inpatient Occupational Therapy Supervisor at Spaulding Cape Cod, providing clinical care and oversight for inpatient rehabilitation at SCC since 2000, including tenure as a case manager.

Ms. Comiskey is involved with the following SCC Quality Improvement Committees: Inpatient Outcomes, Hand Hygiene, Education and Falls. Additionally, she is involved with the development of the inpatient Vision Rehab program.  Ms. Comiskey has been involved with the Adaptive Golf Program since its inception over a decade ago.

Prior to joining the inpatient rehabilitation team in 2000, Ms. Comiskey had provided 25 years clinical and supervisory services in a variety of settings that include acute inpatient rehabilitation, acute care hospital, outpatient services, sub-acute/skilled nursing facilities, as well as independent living programs.

Ms. Comiskey attended the University of Pennsylvania for Occupational Therapy and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Kim Patota
Inpatient Physical Therapy Supervisor
Ms. Patota has been the Inpatient Physical Therapy Supervisor at Spaulding Cape Cod since 2001. During her 23 years as a physical therapist, Ms. Patota evaluated and treated a varied caseload including: orthopedic, amputee, head and spinal cord injured, stroke and other neurological clients.

Ms. Patota  has a particular interest in student program development and is an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor.  She fosters staff growth through educational opportunities and through her highly respected hospital clinical competency program. She participates in numerous hospital committees that focus on Quality Assurance, including Education, Falls, Patient Rounding, Product Review, Hand Hygiene and Clinical Outcomes.

Prior to coming to SCC, Ms. Patota worked in the inpatient, outpatient and homecare settings. She graduated from Northeastern University in 1989 with a bachelor of science degree in physical therapy, where her honors were Kappa Delta Pi and cum laude graduate.

Janice Sullivan
Speech-Language Pathology Supervisor 
Ms. Sullivan is the Supervisor of the Inpatient Speech-Language Pathology service at Spaulding Cape Cod, where she has worked since 1998. Prior professional experience includes work as a Senior Clinician on the Stroke Unit of Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Boston, and as an acute care SLP at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Ms. Sullivan earned an undergraduate degree in psychology and English from Clark University, a master of science degree in speech pathology from Boston University, and an MBA from Babson College.

She is a member of ASHA Special Interest Groups in Swallowing and Neurogenic Communication Disorders. She is certified in provision of Lee Silverman Voice Treatment® and Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation for Swallowing.  Her areas of interest include aphasia, right hemisphere stroke disorders and apraxia of speech, as well as patient/family and staff education.
