Pulmonary
Overview
Providing comprehensive and expert services for patients with significant respiratory and physical dysfunction, Spaulding Hospital Cambridge pulmonary and ventilator weaning program is directed by Dr. Christopher Fanta from Brigham and Women's Hospital. With daily pulmonary and intensivist consultation from Brigham and Women's Pulmonary and Critical Care Division, and with on-site access to a full spectrum of related services, patients receive an exceptional level of treatment.

Occupational and physical therapists provide energy conservation and remobilization, while our social service, psychiatric and pastoral care teams address the psychological effects of chronic respiratory disease that are often experienced by patients and their families.

Admission Criteria

This program is designed for adult patients over the age of 18. Additional admission criteria may include but are not limited to:

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, asthma, restrictive lung disease, chronic bronchitis or other lung disease
Need for daily medical management
Need for multidisciplinary rehabilitation
Ability and willingness to participate in progressively intense rehabilitation program.
