Hand Therapy Program

At Spaulding Outpatient Centers, we provide expert care for individuals with hand and upper extremity injuries caused by overuse, trauma, or surgery. Our primary goal is to help you achieve maximum recovery so you can get back to a full, productive lifestyle.

As leaders in rehabilitative care, our Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs) use the latest techniques to treat a range of conditions, including tendonitis and sprains, traumatic injuries, fractures of the hand and arm, tendon and nerve repair, soft tissue and crush injuries, repetitive strain injury, carpal tunnel syndrome, work-related injuries, sports injuries, complex regional pain syndrome, and thoracic outlet syndrome.

Approach to Care

Whatever the issue, our therapists will work closely with you and your referring physician to coordinate a treatment plan designed to help you regain function, strength, range of motion, and dexterity.

Using a comprehensive, evidence-based practice, our therapists work closely with referring doctors as well as patients to devise a plan of care that will address deficits. In same cases, our hand therapists work with surgeons to fulfill specific treatment plans to get patients back to both work and leisure as quickly as possible. If needed, your therapist may even attend a doctor's appointment with you.

Expertise

Our Occupational Therapists and Certified Hand Therapists use the latest techniques to treat a range of conditions. Our CHTs are seasoned clinicians with at least five years and more than 2,000 hours of patient care experience.

Spaulding Outpatient Centers are staffed with experienced therapists who work with our patients and guide all the treatment they receive, including upper extremity assessment, custom splinting, electrical stimulation and ultrasound, fluidotherapy and whirlpool, edema control, strengthening, scar management, soft tissue mobilization, wound and pin care, sensory re-education, adaptive equipment training, and ergonomic assessments.
