Neurological Rehabilitation Program

Using a holistic approach, our therapists treat the whole person including the physical, emotional, and psychological components of their illness. Our team evaluates each patient focusing on movement patterns, strength, flexibility, functional ability, balance, and tone. Spaulding Network therapists work closely with referring physicians, specialists, and family members to ensure effective progression of treatment, sending regular progress reports to the patient’s physicians.

Our treatment team also identifies goals for a patient’s work and personal life – goals that include what the patient feels is important to accomplish to provide greater independence at home and in the community. This includes identifying barriers to independence, in order to make a meaningful improvement in function and quality of life.

Our therapists use a variety of modalities and therapy techniques that include:

• Therapeutic exercise
• Splinting, bracing and the use of specialized therapy equipment
• Neurological re-education of movement and activity patterns and tasks
• Electrical stimulation devices
• Adaptive recreation and sports activities
• Compensatory techniques and methods
• Specialized rehabilitation services, such as driving assessments
• Assisted/weighted gait training
• Speech, language and swallowing therapies
• Assistive technology
• Wheelchair services and seating assessments

Using a comprehensive team approach, our seasoned clinicians are committed to the treatment of individuals with neurological disorders. Many have achieved advanced certification as clinical specialists in the practice area of neurologic and geriatric rehabilitation.
