Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment

Physician doing OM treatment

Osteopathic manipulative treatment, or OMT, is a form of hands-on care. In OMT, physicians use their hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. Using osteopathic manipulative treatment, your osteopathic physician will move your muscles and joints with techniques including stretching, gentle pressure, and resistance.

With OMT, osteopathic physicians use their hands to encourage your body's natural tendency toward good health. By combining all other available medical options with OMT, osteopathic physicians at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network offer you the most comprehensive care available in medicine today.

Expertise

Osteopathic physicians receive extra training in the musculoskeletal system, which is your body's interconnected system of nerves, muscles, and bones that makes up two-thirds of your body mass. This training provides osteopathic physicians with a better understanding of the ways that an illness or injury in one part of your body can affect another.

Service Coordinator

Each of the Outpatient Centers of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network has on-site clinical leaders who direct the Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment services.
